Northern Health are seeking applications from a motivated and suitably experienced Grade 3 Physiotherapist to join the Northern Health Physiotherapy department.

 

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

 

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

 

About the Role:

The primary role of the Northern Health Physiotherapy Student Clinical Educator is to provide direct clinical supervision and support to undergraduate physiotherapist students on placement. They will also provide support and advice to physiotherapy clinical supervisors in relation to their clinical placements. The clinical educator will be accountable for providing an evidence-based Physiotherapy services to Northern Health patients through the application of expert clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and discharge planning.  

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Day to day clinical supervision and support of LTU Physiotherapy students on placement blocks (Monday to Thursdays when students are on site) including placement marking and feedback. 
  • During periods when not directly supervising student, the roles will still have a presence in the clinical areas to provide student related support at the relevant sites (i.e. covering supervisor’s student, seeing difficult patients with students, tutorials, upskilling supervisors, student related quality improvement activities).
  • Liaising with the Grade 4 Physiotherapy Student Coordinator and the Grade 3 Physiotherapy Student Education Coordinator (where required) to ensure that annual placement targets are met.
  • Build and maintain a collegial, collaborative working partnership with LTU physiotherapy and other Physiotherapy Student Clinical Educator roles in other health services.
  • Contribute to placement evaluation and advocacy towards quality improvement and work with LTU to determine curriculum development opportunities.
  • Supervise junior staff (i.e. Grade 1 or 2 Physiotherapist, Allied Health Assistant) as required
