Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator – Early Career Program to join the Early Career Clinical Education Program 

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

Northern Health’s Mental Health Division is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator to support our Early Career Program (ECP) for OTs across Northern Health - Mental Health Division.

This role offers an opportunity to shape the next generation of mental health occupational therapists by enhancing learning pathways, coordinating program delivery, and supporting early career practitioners to build confidence and capability.

The Occupational Therapy Educator will work collaboratively with OT discipline leaders, the Allied Health Early Career Program Coordinator, and the Allied Health Director for Mental Health to strengthen and support the OT workforce within the Mental Health Division.

The role will contribute to recruitment processes, the design and implementation of the Early Career Program (ECP), and the provision of practical, day‑to‑day support for ECP clinicians throughout their employment at Northern Health.

The overarching objective of this position is to ensure early‑career occupational therapists are well supported during their transition into practice, building a confident, capable, and well‑prepared mental health workforce.

The role is responsible for:

• Supporting the learning and development needs of early career Occupational Therapists in the Mental Health Division
• In collaboration with Occupational Therapy Leaders and the ECP clinical education team, contribute to the development, coordination and evaluation of the ECP for Occupational Therapy clinicians
• Establishing and coordinating a system for consultation with OT leadership around provision of ECP rotations each year and grow the number of positions offered across the mental health division
• Contribute to the achievement of Northern Health Mental Health Divisions overall objectives/deliverables

This position is currently based at 130 Bell Street, Coburg; however, the role is not limited to this location. While a desk is available there, staff are expected to travel to other sites as needed to provide face‑to‑face learning, mentoring, and support.

This is a part time fixed term role working 24 hours per fortnight until April 2027.

Clinical Educators will be required to work across both Adult and Older Adults services and across Bundoora Centre, Broadmeadows Hospital and Northern Hospital Epping where Occupational Therapy early career clinicians are located.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• 10 years’ post-graduation experience in clinical mental health or relevant industry or education experience.
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
• Experience in identifying professional development needs of health professionals 
• Demonstrated skills and experience in professional (clinical) supervision; conducting training sessions and facilitating groups
