Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer support to assist in the management of AWARE’s electronic health record (EHR) system and related application.
  • Manage AWARE's Help Desk EHR Referrals in cooperation with AWARE’s Quality Improvement Specialist to determine and resolve problems received from end users. Review and assess each ticket for actions that require supervisor’s involvement/notification, priority, assignment to the appropriate technician, follow up needs, and further information gathering. 
  • Provides technical support to end users regarding how to complete existing processes within the EHR; Provides support to team and end users regarding how to re-engineer existing processes and workflows;
  • Inputting and configuring new employee EHR accounts.
  • Works closely with the Service Director – Quality Improvement/E.H.R. to complete a variety of projects that support the maintenance and growth of the EHR system;
  • Ensure effective communication with end users to keep them apprised of the status of support cases and new developments.
  • Establish an EHR News and Tips communication system via the Help Desk or other methods as determined by the QI department.
  • Provide on-going monthly training for end users.
  • Provide reports to the QI department to determine trends of issues and possible training needs.
  • Identify, coordinate and resolve issues experienced by end-users of the E.H.R.
  • Coordinate the resolution of tickets with EHR vendors to provide end users with timely solutions while ensuring accountability for response times and appropriate outcomes.
  • Train and orientate end users on basic log in and use of the electronic health record including best practice uses of the E.H. R.
  • Troubleshoots minor equipment malfunctions and corrects them as directed by computer operation manuals, or supervisor;
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential task s as assigned;
  • Coordinate system upgrades; conduct pre and post upgrade testing.
  • Maintains log of all worked performed and processed;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements


Talents, skills, and abilities:

  • Requires demonstrated experience in customer support, healthcare information management and/or healthcare information technology (HIT). Intermediate experience working with Windows and PC based software products. 
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment, handling multiple tasks. Good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to translate numbers into plain English while forming professional working relationships with a welcoming and helpful customer service approach. Travel required.
  • A BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics or related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct employment experience working within an electronic health record system required. 
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid Montana Driver’s License. Must have an acceptable driving record; as well as an acceptable criminal and protective services background check.
