Wellness Manager 2026 - Full-time (minimum of 30 hours per week)

PAY RATE LEVEL: Four (4) $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
REPORTS TO: General Manager
SUPERVISES: Wellness Department
Customer Service Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service as identified in Feather River Food Cooperative Service Standards
Take the initiative to improve knowledge of Feather River Food Cooperatives product line and demonstrate the ability to answer or research customer questions.
Promptly respond to customer inquiries, comments, and complaints in a professional manner, with General Manager assistance when needed.
Act as the person in charge when assigned and promptly address issues affecting product quality, service, or equipment malfunctions.
Understand the elements of Co-op membership sufficiently to educate customers and process membership transactions.
Understand and follow the procedures for processing special orders.
Help customers with special orders in a prompt, friendly manner.
Operations and Maintenance
Ensure department equipment is maintained and properly serviced. Advise General Manager of equipment repair and replacement needs.
Ensure that refrigeration equipment temperatures are documented regularly with properly calibrated, working thermometers.
Oversee resets, ensure accurate physical inventory counts, and other projects/tasks as assigned by the GM quarterly or as needed.
Set department goals and develop structure aligned with the General Manager's overall store vision.
Perform regular overall department maintenance, cleanliness, and organization, including backstock.
Purchase products and other necessary items in accordance with department goals.
Ensure store is well stocked with appealing and abundant sets and displays.
Meet with local producers, distributors, brokers, and sales reps to identify and bring in new products, negotiate favorable pricing, promotions, terms, quality, and delivery schedules.
Ensure orders are correctly received.
Oversee correct pricing and handling of Special Orders
Communicate ordering times, deadlines, and changes in delivery time to the grocery team.
Ensure well organized back stock to minimize loss and out of stocks on the retail floor.
Check and code vendor invoices.
Merchandising and Product Management
Ensure shelves and displays, including cross merchandise locations, are clean and beautiful, fully stocked, rotated and fresh, with accurate, up to date shelf tags and other signs.
Buy for all General Merchandise for both locations and share orders appropriately.
Ensure all unsellable items are properly disposed of and keep accurate shrinkage records.
Develop and maintain a dynamic system of category management, maintaining a core set along with a strong local set.
Maintain knowledge of new products and trends and share information with staff and customers.
Coordinate the introduction of new products with the purchasing team and POS Team Leader
Ensure accurate, up-to-date, uniform department signs, price tags and labeling.
Ensure shelves and displays, including cross merchandise locations, are clean and aesthetically pleasing, fully stocked, rotated, and fresh, with accurate, up to date shelf tags and other signs.
Meet with local producers, distributors, brokers, and sales reps to identify and bring in new products, negotiate favorable pricing, promotions, terms, quality, and delivery schedules.
Set prices to meet margin goals as determined by the General Manager, working closely with the POS Coordinator.
Contribute to the website, Facebook page, and other available promotional outlets upon request.
Coordinate promotional orders and other sale specials.
Coordinate product demos and product displays.
Personnel
Develop, model and uphold performance standards and goal setting for all department employees.
Assist Human Resources with recruitment and hiring of qualified employees.
Develop and/or maintain department Standard Operating Procedures and training documents.
Ensure training for all department employees and successful completion of training checklists with new department staff.
Schedule department employees to meet department and store needs within the labor budget and goals.
Collaborate with other managers to ensure overall operational staffing coverage and provide back-up emergency coverage when necessary.
Conduct thorough and thoughtful performance evaluations of department employees upon completion of trial periods and as needed.
Follow personnel procedures and good documentation practices. Take corrective action as needed for department employees according to established personnel policies.
Conduct quarterly staff and other meetings as necessary.
Emphasize interdepartmental communication and cooperation and facilitate employee engagement in department and storewide issues and opportunities.
Fiscal Management Practices
Ensure invoices are properly coded and submitted to Finance for payment in a timely manner.
Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to ensure proper credit is received for all vendor errors or compromised products.
Develop variable pricing strategies to maximize sales growth and achieve margin goals.
Ensure accurate, competitive pricing based on pricing strategy.
Work with the General Manager to review department goals and plan corrective action as needed.
Reach department goals for labor, sales growth, margin, purchasing and turns.
Utilize sales reports when making decisions regarding product selection.
Effectively manage allocated labor hours to ensure the labor budget is maintained.
Communicate productivity, staffing or training issues, system improvement needs, and other relevant information to the GM in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
Store, Security, and Safety
Assist the General Manager in ensuring regulatory and legal compliance of department operations.
Ensure security of store property and personnel at all times.
Coordinate training on advanced products in the wellness department in collaboration with Human Resources.
Coordinate Security and Safety Practices (IIPP) collaboratively with Human Resources.
Other
Cashier as needed to support Front End.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.
Attend continual education classes, conferences, and other training as possible.
Utilize networking to learn from other co-op resources.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum two (2) year experience in retail management.
Minimum two (2) year experience in product purchasing.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in customer service.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in wellness.
Knowledge of natural foods and organic standards.
Proven ability to handle multiple demands, work under time pressures, and meet deadlines.
Previous experience with ordering, pricing and inventory control.
Strong organizational skills.
Keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and listening skills.
Commitment to superior customer service and to providing the highest quality shopping experience possible.
Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork and constant communication is essential..

Scheduling Requirements
The scheduling availability described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. All employees must be available to work weekends, evenings, early mornings, holidays, and high demand seasons. Employees will be provided a recurring base schedule at the time of hire, this will be used to determine the employees employment benefit status.
