Job Overview:

The Wellness Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Fitness and Spa facilities, ensuring exceptional service and experiences for Forest Highlands Golf Club Members and Guests. This position focuses on maintaining high standards in fitness, spa services, and overall member satisfaction while also supporting operations in Concierge, Programs, and Facilities/Aquatics as needed throughout the year. The role requires weekend and holiday availability.



Qualifications

Essential Functions: 

Leadership & Operations:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Fitness and Spa facilities, ensuring they are clean, safe, and welcoming. 

  • Supervise staff performance, ensuring adherence to club policies and high standards of professionalism. 

  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and scheduling of fitness trainers, spa therapists, and other team members. 

 

Member Services:

  • Provide outstanding customer service by addressing member inquiries, concerns, and special requests.

  • Plan and implement fitness programs, spa services, and wellness initiatives that align with member needs and interests.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while ensuring the team does the same. 

Facility Maintenance:

  • Monitor the condition of all fitness and spa equipment, promptly reporting maintenance or repair needs. 

  • Ensure all areas of the facilities, including the Recreation Centers, are clean and presentable at the start and end of the day. 

 

Administrative Duties: 

  • Track and report personal training (PT) and private spa service (PR) revenues. 

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning for the Fitness and Spa departments. 

  • Manage payroll for Fitness and Spa team members, ensuring timely and accurate submission of hours and adjustments.

  • Maintain inventory of spa and fitness supplies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.

  • Prepare and distribute weekly communication and VIP/member-specific information

 

Cross-Department Support:

  • Assist with operations in Concierge, Programs, and Facilities/Aquatics, special events, or as directed by management.

 

Other Duties:

  •  Perform all other duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the department and club.

 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  •  High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fitness and spa operations or related hospitality operations, including some leadership, supervisory, or management experience with staff support or daily operational oversight. 

  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). 

  • Current nationally recognized Certified Personal Trainer credential (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent).

  • Minimum of one (1) or three (3) years of experience delivering personal training and/or teaching group fitness classes.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to support, motivate, and guide team members.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, with a passion for providing exceptional, personalized service.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Professional, dependable, and service-oriented mindset.

  • Availability to work flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Wellness, Hospitality Management, or a related field. 

  • One (1) to three (3) years of management experience in a fitness or spa, hospitality, or private club setting. 

  • Experience assisting with staff scheduling, training, or program coordination. 

  • Experience supporting departmental financial performance, including program growth or revenue generation.

  • Experience in a private club, resort, or hospitality environment preferred.

  • Reformer Pilates certification.

  • Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certification or similar golf-specific fitness credential.

  • Additional specialty certifications such as yoga, corrective exercise, senior fitness, or massage therapy are a plus.

 

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the Company.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Position is in a busy golf/country club in a private residential community. 

  • Flexibility in schedule.

  • Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

  • Must be able to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop kneel, crouch, adjust vision accordingly (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception).

  • Continuous ability to talk and hear. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision.

 

Equipment Used:

Fitness center equipment, including cardio machines, free weights, resistance bands, and spa-related tools and supplies.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

Directly supervises Fitness and Spa Supervisor, fitness trainers, spa therapists, class instructors, and other assigned team members.

 

Budgetary Responsibility:

Responsible for monitoring and managing the Fitness and Spa budget, including payroll and revenue tracking for all services and products.
