ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you passionate about advancing healthcare through technology and education? Southlake Health is seeking a Trainer, Clinical Informatics to play a pivotal role in bridging clinical workflows with cutting-edge healthcare technology. In this dynamic role, you’ll help train and support staff on key Health Information Systems (HIS) and other clinical applications, enhancing patient care delivery and driving operational efficiency across the organization. As a Clinical Informatics Trainer, you'll craft, deliver, and maintain innovative curriculum, eLearning modules, and in-person training, tailored to meet the evolving needs of our diverse healthcare teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Training & Education: Design, coordinate, and maintain comprehensive training schedules for clinical and medical staff, ensuring their ongoing educational needs are met.
  • Onboarding & Continuous Learning: Facilitate engaging onboarding sessions for new staff, as well as ongoing training for returning employees, students, and others, ensuring a smooth transition into our healthcare systems.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and update training materials that reflect real-world environments and ensure alignment with our current HIS and clinical systems.
  • Effectiveness & Feedback: Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to evaluate training effectiveness and continuously enhance programs based on feedback.
  • System Upgrades & Process Changes: Develop training for system upgrades, downtime protocols, and workflow changes, ensuring all staff are prepared for transitions and improvements.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in healthcare IT training.
  • HIS Expertise: Familiarity with major Health Information Systems (HIS) such as MEDITECH, Cerner, Epic, and similar software solutions.
  • Adult Learning & Education: Experience in providing adult education, preferably in a healthcare setting, applying adult learning principles to deliver effective and engaging training programs.
  • Project Management: Skilled in coordinating and implementing projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery of training programs.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, ensuring that work is completed within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer Service Focus: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and address their training needs with empathy and professionalism.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Diploma in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Administration, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and delivering curriculum and training programs tailored to clinical end users.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Health Information Systems (HIS) in healthcare settings.
  • 2+ years of experience in adult education, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Professional designation in a healthcare-related field (e.g., nursing, allied health, health administration) or equivalent certification.
  • 3+ years of recent clinical experience (preferred but not required).
  • 2+ years of experience in coordinating and implementing projects, particularly in healthcare or clinical systems.
  • Experience in developing HIS-specific training materials, including user guides and educational content.
  • Proficiency in creating adult learning materials (e.g., e-learning modules, classroom training) designed for healthcare professionals.
  • Experience with MEDITECH HIS is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles with experience in applying them to improve learner engagement and outcomes.
