The Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (IECMH) consultant is a highly trained licensed or license-eligible mental health clinician with specialized knowledge in child development, the effects of stress and trauma on families, and the impact of adult mental health on the developing child. This role involves providing consultation, training, and support to caregivers, educators, and families to address challenging behaviors, trauma, and mental health concerns, while fostering positive relationships and nurturing environments.  Using advanced training and expertise in mental health, consultants focus on building the capacity of early childhood professionals and families to promote both strong relationships and supportive environments for young children.   IECMH consultants can also help early childhood professionals understand their reactions and responses to the behaviors of children and families. 

 

The IECMH Consultant provides indirect mental health services to support the social, emotional, and relational health of infants, young children, families, and staff in diverse settings. The consultant works collaboratively with early childhood education (ECE) programs, families, home visiting professionals, staff and program leaders, and community stakeholders to promote the social and emotional development of infants and young children. This role involves reflective practice, cultural sensitivity, and systemic approaches to improve outcomes for children and families.

 

Work calendar:  8 hours/day, 260 days

Salary: $46.89/hour
