Work Experience Description:

Ideal for students who have begun gaining relevant experience and are building their skills through internships, part-time jobs, or significant projects. Typically aimed at sophomores or juniors who have completed a combination of introductory and advanced coursework.

Job Summary

The Wellness Coach will work with the Wellness Center Interns and other Coaches in creating and implementing personalized fitness and wellness programs for faculty, staff, and students.

Primary Responsibilities

o   Prepare, implement, and evaluate personalized fitness workouts with university students, faculty, and staff.

o   Help develop mobile app for workout tracking and wellness coaching.

o   Work with Seasider Wellness Interns and other Coaches to conduct fitness assessments, body composition, testing, and health consultations.

o   Educate clients on nutrition and healthy habits for chronic disease prevention.

o   Assist in data collection and analysis for any on-going research studies related to fitness or wellness coaching or training. 

o   Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Must have completed at least 3 of the following courses:

  • SSAS 178 Weight Training Development

  • HHS 115 Personal Nutrition

  • HHS 117 Personal Health & Wellness

  • HHS 333 Principles of Strength & Conditioning  

  • HHS 344 Physiology of Exercise 

  • HHS 369 Youth Coaching

  • HHS 409 Health & Human Behavior

Work Experience

6+ Months of resistance training self or others.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift 45 pounds.

Must be able to safely spot a client in any lifts or exercises requiring a spotter.

Must be able to stand for 50-60 minutes at a time. 

Base Rate Per Hour:

14.00

*Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks
