Position Overview:
The Quality Improvement Consultant develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates continuous quality improvement activities for assigned populations. This role works independently and leads specific work groups, performing ongoing analysis of gaps in clinical care and barriers to care, aligning interventions with the organization’s strategic plan. The Consultant facilitates the organization’s performance improvement process in collaboration with project team leaders and conducts training and education programs for staff and physicians in performance improvement methodologies, data analysis, work simplification techniques, and related subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Analyze clinical care gaps and barriers, recommending and implementing interventions.
- Facilitate the performance improvement process across departments in collaboration with project teams.
- Conduct training and education sessions on performance improvement methodologies, data analysis, and process improvement techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality initiatives and interventions.
- Utilize data systems and tools such as NCQA IDSS/ISS, electronic health records, HEDIS software, and supplemental databases.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for quality activities and compliance.
- Support organizational strategic priorities through continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Occasionally travel locally to facilitate activities and training sessions (no overnight travel required).
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Master’s degree in clinical healthcare, business, or related field preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active Indiana RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license preferred.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in healthcare quality improvement or related fields.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Knowledge of data entry systems such as NCQA IDSS/ISS tools, electronic health records, supplemental databases, and HEDIS software preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead quality improvement efforts effectively.
