QUALIFICATIONS

 

      Education

 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Information systems, Nursing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

 

      Experience/Skills

 

  • 3+ years of project management experience, preferably in a healthcare or small hospital setting.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems (e.g. Athenahealth, Meditech, Oracle, Epic, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments. 
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare compliance standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a resource-constrained environment. 
  • Experience with data migration, system integration, and legacy system transitions.
  • Knowledge of rural health or critical access hospital operations.

      Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the end-to-end EMR implementation project, including planning, vendor coordination, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support
  • Develop and maintain a realistic project timeline and budget, ensuring alignment with hospital leadership and operational needs. 
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to gather requirements and ensure the EMR system supports workflows and compliance standards. 
  • Coordinate with external vendors and consultants to ensure timely delivery of services and system readiness. 
  • Facilitate staff training and change management efforts to promote adoption and minimize disruption to patient care. 
  • Identify and mitigate risks, troubleshoot issues, and escalate concerns as needed. 
  • Provide regular updates to hospital leadership and project stakeholders. 
  • Support post-implementation optimization and continuous improvement efforts. 

 

Go-Live Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the final readiness assessment and go/no-go decision process in collaboration with leadership and clinical teams.
  • Coordinate go-live logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and on-site support coverage. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during go-live, ensuring real-time issue tracking, triage, and resolution. 
  • Monitor system performance and user feedback during the go-live period to ensure a smooth transition. 
  • Facilitate daily huddles or command center operations to address emerging issues and communicate updates. 
  • Ensure adequate support coverage from vendors, IT staff, and super users during the go-live window. 
  • Document lesson learned and contribute to a post go-live review and stabilization plan.
