Description

Community Health Alliance is looking for full-time Perinatal and Infant Health Educator.  Join our talented team of Reproductive Health that focus on serving the community and helping those in need by creating healthy outcomes for patients of every income. 

We operate six convenient locations throughout Reno and Sparks, providing comprehensive, top-quality medical services, dental and pediatric care, behavioral health, low-cost pharmacies, nourishing food pantries, and more.  This is a grant-funded role, and continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant renewal. The Perinatal and Infant Health Educator is expected to fully understand and comply with all grant requirements.

Position Summary: The Perinatal and Infant Health Educator provides evidence-based education, outreach, and support to expectant parents, new parents, and caregivers during the perinatal period and the first year of a child’s life. This role focuses on promoting healthy pregnancy outcomes, safe sleep practices, and breastfeeding support through culturally responsive and inclusive approaches. The Educator will train staff, collaborate with healthcare providers and community partners, and design programs that address the needs of high-risk and underserved populations.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard office practices, program documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Title V, HRSA program guidelines, and relevant public health/perinatal best practices.
  • Ability to perform basic business math; excellent spoken and written English communication.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred (required if specified).
  • Proficiency with relevant computer software: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, eClinicalWorks (or equivalent EHR system).
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Comfort working with population groups including LGBTQIA+, HIV-positive, adolescents, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize competing tasks under pressure.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and collaborative mindset.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Additional education (associate’s or bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, nursing, social work, or related field) is a plus.
  • Experience (volunteer, internship, or paid) in perinatal health, infant health, public health, or community outreach preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, and move between locations (office, clients’ homes, community sites).
  • Ability to lift, carry, or transport safe sleep kits, educational materials, supplies (up to ~25-40 pounds occasionally).
  • Travel locally to community sites, clinics, home visits; may need to navigate variable terrain or locations.
  • Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers).
  • Ability to see, hear, speak, and physically interact with clients, staff, and partners.
  • Potential exposure to varying environmental settings (homes, shelters, clinics) with diverse conditions (temperature, cleanliness).
  • Work may include evening or weekend hours depending on community outreach requirements.

Classification & Grant Notes

  • Non-exempt; eligible for overtime.
  • Employment contingent on grant funding; grant reporting, compliance, and documentation are critical components.
