Position: Patient Navigator Float – Hereditary Cancer Testing

About the Role

As a Patient Navigator specializing in Hereditary Cancer Testing, you will support patients through critical stages of their diagnostic journey. You will be based in Burbank, CA providing education, coordinating care, and assisting with phlebotomy. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure a seamless, supportive, and professional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Navigation & Administrative Support (Remote):

  • Conduct patient callbacks to schedule genetic testing appointments
  • Provide clear, compassionate education about hereditary cancer testing
  • Register patients and manage follow-up appointments
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
  • Monitor and follow up on no-shows and cancellations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training

Clinical & In-Person Support (On-Site):

  • Rotate between outpatient sites for coverage
  • Educate and support high-risk patients during in-person visits
  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection (-5-10% of role, may expand)
  • Accurately verify, label, and handle specimensΒ 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment
  • Collaborate closely with clinical teams and area supervisors

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of recent healthcare experience (administrative or clinical)
  • 2+ years of experience with insurance verification and authorizations
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in a HIPAA-compliant remote workspace
  • Ability to travel to sites across the area (assignments may be given up to 8 hours
  • prior to shift)
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (if applicable)

Clinical-Specific Requirements:

  • National Certified Phlebotomist with strong venipuncture experience
  • Current BLS certification

Preferred:

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
  • 2+ years in a Patient Service Center or outpatient setting
  • Prior customer-facing healthcare experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
