Duties & Responsibilities

Job Description:

It is an overarching function to manage and co-ordinate certain functions of the Health Clinics within the Faculty of Health Sciences, to allow the learners maximum clinical exposure.

Responsibilities:

  • Effective management and compilation of an annual departmental/faculty budget.
  • Risk management in the clinics and some aspects of the faculty and accurate reporting.
  • Compiling accurate and reporting of clinic statistics.
  • Consistent and accurate adherence to relevant legislation (e.g. POPIA) by all clinical staff members and students.
  • Manage community engagement projects of the clinics/faculty.
  • Ensuring marketing exposure of clinics and community engagement projects together with the Marketing Coordinator and clinics/departments and promotion of events of the various clinics.
  • Establish possible strategic partnerships with internal and external role players.
  • Serve as a member of the Faculty Management and Faculty Board Committees, and some institutional committees as required.


Desired Experience & Qualification

  • A Bachelors’ degree (NQF 7) in Healthcare profession or related field.
  • Registration at the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), or Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), or South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in management/supervision in the health care industry.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years clinical background (working with patients).
  • Experience in healthcare business management.
  • Experience in an academic clinic/environment.
  • Understanding POPIA Act and the handling confidential information.

 

Recommendations:

  • Knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
  • Sound knowledge of South African medical environment.
  • Knowledge of Public Health Structures and regulations, Health Professional Councils and related fields, medico-legal and ethical rules.
  • Knowledge of infection control processes in a clinical and/or medical environment.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and marketing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (A second or language would be an advantage).
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to handle stress effectively.

  • Proven computer literacy and ability to use MS Word and Excel.
