Job Title: Injury Prevention Specialist
Department: Injury Prevention                     
Location: Rochester General Hospital                          
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday - Friday; Day 8am to 430pm                                      

SUMMARY:
Coordinate ergonomics programs by: Assisting in development, monitor, educate and evaluate assigned occupational health and safety programs within the facility to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. In addition, provide specialized technical expertise and evaluation on ergonomic issues.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At the direction of leader: Assist in development and assessment of ergonomic programs system-wide.
  • Assess health and safety program needs and recommend policies and procedures. Follow up with leaders on all events which involved patient handling with regard to ergonomics.
  • Take immediate action as necessary to eliminate hazards.
  • Provide ergonomics assessments and training on an ad hoc basis.
  • Review federal and state safety regulations to ensure program consistency and compliance.
  • Participate in periodic monthly board reviews to help drive the safety program and respond to comments raised by the workforce pertaining to the EH&S program and practices.
  • Coordinate program activities with Safety Committees and other agencies. Review incident reports to identify problem areas and incident trends.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive analysis of event types and to assist in the development of action plans for correction.
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various safety management software systems for tracking accidents, and near misses, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ergonomics; and a basic knowledge of workers’ compensation claims management.
  • Ability to work independently without constant direction and supervision.
     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensure Required: Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Physical Therapist (PT), Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Occupational Therapist (OT), Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AS Degree as PTA, OTA or LPN. BS Degree as PT, OT or RN preferred
  • 4 years related experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Effective verbal and/or written communications skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience with computer and office programs

S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
