    Ignite Health Science Teacher Description

    Position Purpose

    Under the general supervision of the Ignite Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic, technical and interpersonal skills through implementation of district approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; address specific educational needs of individual students and create a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

    Essential Functions

    • Create and maintain professional relationships with students.
    • Facilitate a profession-based classroom.
    • Support students in professional projects and the development of professional skills
    • Establish and conduct a professional environment for the students.
    • Collaborate with the Northwest Arkansas Community College to meet requirements for students to earn concurrent credit
    • Communicate with health professionals and experts to establish clinical rotations and projects for students in the area of Behavioral Health.
    • Speak to groups about the Ignite Professional Studies Program.
    • Engage with professional organizations that promote Health professions.
    • Follow the school's policies and procedures for grading.
    • Maintain and sustain a strong local advisory group.
    • Recruit students for the Health Science career strand.

    Additional Duties

    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Ignite Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Equipment
    Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of health science curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action
    • plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
    • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

     

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

    Works in standard office and school building environments.

     

    Certification/License

    Arkansas Teaching License or Technical Permit required.

     

    Education

    Degree from an accredited college or university in a health-related field required. 

    A Masters Degree in a health science related program is preferred.

     

    Experience

    Successful work experience in the health science/behavioral health field is necessary.
