Position Summary

In support of the overall Allied Health programs, the Health Sciences Coach will coordinate, develop, enhance, and offer academic advising, planning, and support to students seeking enrollment and/or enrolled in the Allied Health programs. In addition, the Coach for Allied Health will promote learning experiences to increase student retention, success, and program completion. This position requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Allied Health. The continuation of the position is contingent upon grant renewal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a point of contact for general inquiries concerning the Allied Health programs.
  2. Assist with Allied Health program student retention efforts.
  3. Collect and report data related to Allied Health advising and enrollment to support campus-wide initiatives and annual planning.
  4. Assist program faculty in completing Early Alerts for students.
  5. Develop resource courses in CANVAS.
  6. Provide annual workshops addressing test-taking skills for Allied Health licensure/certification examinations
  7. Serve as a point of contact for general inquiries concerning the Allied Health programs.
  8. Assist faculty with advising to prospective students seeking enrollment and to those currently enrolled in an Allied Health program.
  9. Create and maintain student educational plans.
  10. Contact students as needed to make sure they remain on their career path.
  11. Work with Enrollment Management to obtain call lists for advisees who have been deregistered or have withdrawn from class(es).
  12. Facilitate and document communication with advisees.
  13. Provide an honest, safe, confidential, and respectful environment where students can ask questions, express concerns, and discuss interests.
  14. Assist in the creation and distribution of recruitment materials.
  15. Attend Outreach events and open houses along with other advisors and representatives to help promote college programs.
  16. Maintain appropriate records and assist in generating relevant reports.
  17. Assist with students in completing Admissions and FAFSA applications; answering general phone calls; scheduling placement tests; and answering general college inquiries. 
  18. Work with Student Services to update and accurately maintain advisor names on student accounts.
  19. Regularly utilize TSCC’s electronic media such as email, advising and registration software, and the learning management system (LMS) as appropriate and necessary to fulfil duties.
  20. Attend College meetings and faculty/staff meetings.
  21. Attend/participate in conferences and workshops as appropriate both on and off campus.
  22. Serve on a variety of campus committees and participate in campus activities.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution

 Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  2. One year of advising experience.
  3. Experience in the Allied Health field
