Description

General Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining the health information system to comply with medical, legal and ethical standards.  The role ensures the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of medical records while providing technical support and training to staff.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide help desk support and technical assistance to end users.
  2. Assist in coordination of electronic record-keeping workflows to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and security.
  3. Monitor and troubleshoot health information software systems.
  4. Train staff on the use of computers and information systems.
  5. Develop and update user training materials and tutorials.
  6. Log, track, and escalate system issues and outages.
  7. Assist with healthcare integration projects as needed.
  8. Coordinate with electronic health record vendor.
  9. Support the IT team and other agency applications as required.
  10. Generate reports upon request.
  11. Monitor and manage user access controls.
  12. Support MDHHS platforms per contract requirements.

Other Functions:

  1. Participates in agency meetings and committees as assigned.
  2. Complete required training and continuing education.
  3. Perform additional duties as assigned in a cooperative and positive manner.

Employment Qualifications:

 

Education: 

  • Associate’s Degree in health information technology or related field. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Experience with health information systems required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with MDHHS reporting requirements preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional IT team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff and external providers.
