Description

The Health Informatics Specialist is a healthcare professional, such as a registered nurse or respiratory therapist, who applies their clinical expertise to optimize electronic health records (EHRs) and medical devices. This role focuses on improving healthcare efficiency and effectiveness by assessing and refining clinical, administrative, and research workflows. The specialist acts as a subject matter expert for new technologies and provides essential support and education to staff. They are a primary resource for leadership, assisting with critical updates, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring successful adoption of new technologies. The position also involves managing medical device integration processes, performing functional validations, and advising leadership on ways to enhance healthcare operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Β 

  • Serve as a primary resource and subject matter expert for all health informatics, EHR, and medical device integration issues.
  • Conduct workflow assessments and optimizations for clinical, administrative, and research processes.
  • Manage the end-to-end coordination and execution of medical device integration processes.
  • Provide consultation, advice, and education to staff and leadership at all levels to enhance healthcare operations.
  • Integrate clinical knowledge with information technology to ensure the successful adoption of new systems and devices.
  • Perform clinical functional validations for various medical device-to-EHR integrations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system functionality.
  • Develop and present recommendations for improving medical device management and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Support executive leadership with written and oral communications, and participate in workgroups.
  • Perform project management activities for geographically dispersed projects.
  • Conduct project complex coordination activities with multiple stakeholders (e.g. MTFs, OEMs, DHA staff) within the Department of Defense.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years focused in clinical and/or healthcare delivery.
  • 5+ years background in electronics health records integration
  • 5+ years’ experience in test execution and issue resolution pertaining to medical device integration.
  • EHR Deployment and support experience
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in a relevant clinical domain
  • Functional clinical and/or logistics support experience in various specialized inpatient and/or outpatient environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with medical device regulatory standardized integration practices including CAP, FDA, ISO, and NIST.
  • Data analysis experience including metrics development, reporting and/or presentation development, and data analysis recommendations.
  • Development of communications and associated presentations for executive leadership.

Desired:

  • 5+ years background in Department of Defense
  • Hands on knowledge and experience with one or more Cerner Millenium applications such as PowerChsrt, SA Anesthesia, PathNet, RadNet, etc.
  • Experience in project/program management coordination of activities pertaining to oversight including medical device implementation, testing, and sustainment.
  • 10+ years executive advisory / consultation experience.
  • MHS GENESIS Medical Device Integration experience
  • Project management certification including LSS, Agile or PMP/PMI.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems
