Summary: The Health Informatics Specialist (HIS) supports PIHC’s clinical and administrative teams by ensuring effective use of information systems, with a strong emphasis on Oracle Health (Cerner). This role provides frontline EMR support, resolves service tickets, delivers onboarding and ongoing training, and helps optimize workflows to enhance patient care.
The Health Informatics Specialist collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, supports telehealth operations, assists with data validation and reporting, and ensures staff remain informed about system updates and best practices. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, training others, and improving the way technology supports clinical operations.
- Deliver onboarding and ongoing EMR training for staff across departments.
- Provide frontline support for Oracle Health (Cerner) and basic technical issues.
- Create and manage Oracle/Cerner profiles, access forms, favorites, and auto-text.
- Support telehealth and telemental health workflows, including patient/provider training.
- Respond to service tickets promptly and coordinate with technical support as needed.
- Review weekly Oracle Health updates and communicate relevant changes to staff.
- Assist with data collection, validation, reporting, and documentation improvement.
- Conduct monthly data reviews to identify trends, program impact, and workflow gaps.
- Participate in DATA team meetings to support quality measures and training needs.
- Build collaborative relationships with clinical, administrative, and operational teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. in Marketing, Business Administration, Health Administration, or equivalent experience in a medical setting.
- At least one year of experience developing or promoting education or training programs.
- Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or audiovisual operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with EMR systems; Oracle Health (Cerner) required.
- Ability to train and support end-users at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a clinical setting with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of patient scheduling and billing systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Aptitudes (KSAOs)
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and secure handling of PHI.
- Understanding of clinical documentation processes and workflow optimization.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying workflow gaps and documentation issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for training and system updates.
- Ability to troubleshoot EMR and telehealth issues and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment with minimal supervision.
