Head Start Mental Health Consultant

West Haven Community House Head Start is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional to provide consultation services to the program. We provide services for 120 children and their families.

Candidates for this position must be a licensed mental health care professional and have experience working with young children (preschool) and their families.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert knowledge to the program in their delivery of mental health services and provide input into the design and implementation of program practices responsive to identified behavioral and mental health needs of an individual child or group.
• Provide research-based curriculum training for parents and monthly parent trainings.
• Observe in each classroom a minimum of monthly.
• Be available in person and by telecommunication for advice and consultation with administration and program staff.
• Be available to meet with individual families as requested by the family or as needed and make referrals.
• Act as a resource person to program staff and parents, including but not limited to, coordinating services and assisting families and program staff in identifying necessary resources.
• Attend quarterly Health and Mental Health Services Advisory Committee meetings.
• Maintain accurate records of observations and meetings in the Child Plus database.

Maximum of 20 hours per month; up to $85 per hour based on licensing credentials and experience
