Job Title:                          Epic Application Team Lead

Salary Range:                    $101,000 to $110,000 

Summary

The Epic Clinical Support Team Lead is a highly technical role leveraging their advanced Epic application knowledge and understanding of the overall Epic EHR and integration points to own complex application areas, lead key initiatives, and mentor team members. The Epic Clinical Support Team Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting relevant Epic applications with a deep understanding of the most complex technical concepts. Key duties include system configuration, requirements gathering, workflow analysis, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and serving as a resource to other analysts as it relates to application build and design.

Essential Functions

  • Requirements Gathering and Workflow Analysis
    • Meeting with operational, administrative, and staff end-users to understand key workflows, affiliate specific requirements and state-specific nuances.  
    • Guiding workflow design, building, and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic software, across both assigned application areas and integration points. 
    • Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization’s workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions. 
  • Advanced System Configuration
    • Translating knowledge of best practice design, build, and testing techniques throughout the implementation and ongoing support phases.  
    • Keeping up to date with latest Epic updates, features and functionalities to ensure optimal system usage
    • Possess a deep understanding of assigned applications and key integration points with other Epic applications
    • Serve as a liaison with vendors as required.
  • Project Management
    • Participating and leading project teams to manage Epic upgrades, new module implementations, and system enhancements.
    • Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in recurring meetings. 
    • Holding weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end‐user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones. 
    • Owning project initiatives with limited oversight and guidance needed.
  • Maintenance and Support
  • Team Leadership
    • Functioning as lead resource to other project team members regarding relevant application and build.
    • Serve as a resource for analyst team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end‐user concerns, and upcoming milestones. 
    • Assisting peers and leadership support in ticket management and resolution.
    • Assist with onboarding and provide mentorship to new hires.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Education and/or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience/training
  • Current certification in EpicCare Ambulatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 or more years of prior Epic experience

Skills

  • Possesses prior healthcare experience. 
  • Possesses prior Epic experience, specifically advanced knowledge and a demonstrated high level of skill in Ambulatory-related Epic build.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of key integration points with other application areas and 3rd party systems
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrates established project management skills including leading meetings, prepping agendas, note taking, etc.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with multiple organizations at once.
  • Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility with respect to changing end‐user business needs.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new software and systems.

Preferred

  • Possesses prior end-to-end Epic implementation experience.
  • Possesses Healthy Planet, Research, or SmartForms certification.
  • Possesses prior Planned Parenthood experience.
  • Possesses prior operations or project management experience for a health care organization. 
  • Possesses prior experience working in a position requiring relationship building with clients. 
  • Prior experience with Jira and/or project management and issue tracking software.
