Status:                                    Full Time

 Position Purpose:      Support and participate in the planning, development, implementation, upgrading, maintenance, and evaluation of EHR software. Assists in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures. Provides direct EHR support and training to end-users.

 Essential Duties:         

  • Supports end users with the EHR application.
  • Performs end-user training and updates training materials.
  • Troubleshoots issues and works with vendors to resolve.
  • Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing workflows and procedures within EHR applications.
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of all software and services related to the EHR with the goal of optimizing performance. (NextGen, Phreesia, Azara, etc.)
  • Assists in testing and validating application patches and upgrades.
  • Serve as first point of contact for IT issues related to EHR and related technologies.
  • Assists Help Desk with general troubleshooting.
  • Acts as a liaison between the departments, IS and vendors, translating business processes into technical requirements.
  • Participates in Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) collaboration. Refer to PCMH relevant procedures assigned to this position for more details.
  • Other duties as assigned.        

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record system in a clinical setting. (NextGen)
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills.

 Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in maintaining an EHR application. (NextGen)
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows.

 Knowledge of: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication, planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain technical and process documents.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system problems.
  • Ability to evaluate impact of technology on clinical operations and recommend a course of action.
  • Principles of training with application processes.

 Responsibility, Skills, and Difficulty of Work:      

  • Operating computer equipment.
  • Develop training materials.
  • Trains and assists staff in using EHR and related systems.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff.
  • Works independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

  • Works with the staff and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality. (HIPAA)
  • Protects sensitive organizational information and privacy.
  • Follows all Riggs CHC policies and procedures.

 Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is performed indoors in heated, air-conditioned, well-lighted, and clean office.
  • Requires frequent lifting of 25 pounds or less, infrequent lifting of 50 pounds.
  • Risk level 3 with little exposure to Hazardous Waste.
