Job Summary:

The Director of Clinical Informatics manages the clinical computer applications for Care New England in the inpatient setting. This position oversees the Clinical Informatics Team, Specialists and Analysts that support all inpatient applications. Serves as a liaison between OU leadership and the IS Department. Executes approved plans, provides budget management, responsible for compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Manages the implementation of systems; establishes technology standards and direction; oversees the implementation of system interfaces, enhancements and solutions. Works with customers to understand their business needs and analyze/apply the appropriate computer technology to meet those needs in conjunction with other IS staff. Responsible for Human Resource management and career development of assigned staff. Performs other job related duties as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Application of Knowledge and Skill

Develops goals and objectives for the Clinical Applications group and assists with development of overall department goals and objectives.

Coordinates the preparation and processes of computer systems to solve problems and achieve identified goals.

Interacts with customers and other IS staff regarding priorities and appropriate application of software and computer technology.

Works with vendors to specify and acquire products and services.

Manages Human Resources effectively.

Maintains a 24 hour on-call support capability to support CNE operations.

Supports development of annual budgets.

Preserves and protects employee and patientsοΏ½ rights to confidentiality.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems and/or RN, or related field with minimum six years experience in application development/support and at least two years in management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Knowledge of systems development methodology, programming, analysis and troubleshooting is required.

Experience in healthcare environment and experience with Cerner highly desirable.
