Director, Clinical Informatics – Acute Systems

How you’ll contribute

The Director, Clinical Informatics - Acute Systems oversees and directs the activities of a system-centric team focusing on adoption of clinical technology and electronic documentation processes at LifePoint’s facilities and also directs activities of the assigned team based on the latest and pending system versions that enhance clinical processes and innovations so as to measurably improve clinical quality, provider productivity, and patient/provider satisfaction, along with meeting regulatory standards and other compliance requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Direct the activities of the team, including Process Leads, technical support, and the Tier 1 system support re-sources for assigned systems.
  • Collaborate with various application vendors to ensure timely implementation, appropriate contracting, project scope, system/application functionality, performance, clinical efficiency, ability to meet LifePoint core values and provide enhanced patient care and support our clinicians as end users of the system perform their jobs effectively without impedance.
  • Oversee, and potentially participate, in each phase of training, implementation, and optimization of clinical patient data automation for assigned system platform(s).
  • Provide hands-on assistance and support of facilities as needed to assure maximum adoption of systems and support clinician workflow.
  • Engage with hospitals to ensure the clinical processes and system functionality is working effectively and/or to identify areas that require refinement.
  • Serve as system-centric lead related to all activities impacting or impacted by the system(s), such as quality and MU requirements, as well as enhancement request management within the established process.
  • Lead an assessment process of assigned facilities related to current state of patient data automation readiness / or adoption based on anticipated MU attestation date and system ‘package’ in use.
  • Lead activities related to point of care technologies within assigned facilities.
  • Prepare and present educational strategies using adult learning principles.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Clinical Knowledge Management to ensure order set and documentation template definition and build is in sync with other clinical transformation activities.
  • Provide feedback from physicians/providers/ancillary leaders and staff to Operations and HITS leadership as ap-propriate.
  • Manage schedules of employee and contractors to achieve position objectives.
  • Draft and submit budget recommendations where necessary.
  • Engage directly in issue identification and problem solving around clinician / provider training related to the planning, implementation and adoption of clinical technologies within assigned facilities.
  • Serve as a liaison between facility providers and staff, HITS leadership, and Health Support Center (HSC) teams to ensure successful adoption of patient data automation processes as well as communication of requested enhancements and critical issues, working closely with the Director of User Experience.
  • Stay current on informatics and electronic health record (HER) trends, experiences and approaches.
  • Coordinate the monitoring of adoption metrics and new system setup and training outcomes to ensure compliance with Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, LifePoint operational guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or informatics. Computer experience required
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience as a nurse in an acute care setting and with 3-5 years’ experience with Informatics and Systems implementation.
