Are you passionate about empowering patients to take control of their health? Join our team as a Diabetes Nurse Educator and play a vital role in guiding individuals through the Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program. You’ll combine clinical expertise with compassionate teaching to help patients live healthier, more confident lives.
Educate & Empower: Teach patients insulin self-administration, glucose monitoring, and use of glucose pumps.
Support Lifestyle Change: Provide guidance on medications, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments to improve outcomes.
Lead Programs: Deliver DSME curriculum aligned with American Diabetes Association (ADA) standards and current best practices.
Collaborate: Work closely with multidisciplinary providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Improve Outcomes: Collect and validate DSME program data to enhance effectiveness and patient success.
Stay Current: Act as a resource for updated diabetes education and continuously refine program content.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including teaching in a specialty area.
Experience in outpatient care and working with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong critical thinking and clinical competence.
Current RN license in Maryland OR Nurse Multi-State Compact license with “Compact” or “Multi-State Privilege” designation.
Certification in area of specialty required.
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential preferred, or eligibility to obtain certification.
Familiarity with CPT/ICD coding and ADA guidelines for outpatient diabetes education.
Strong documentation and continuing education record.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach, motivate, and inspire patients.
