Description

The Diabetes Educator serves as a consultant of inpatient glycemia management and an educator of diabetes management and prevention to patients, families, caregivers, and providers, specific to PALI. Serves as an expert and provides support for diabetes related technology including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps. Demonstrates proficiency in comprehensive patient assessment, delivery of personalized care, and customized education based on patient's needs (age-specific, culturally appropriate, pertinent to medical history, etc.). Assures the use of appropriate educational technology and learning methodology to increase knowledge, skills, and competencies of the person with diabetes. Leads the planning, development and implementation of staff development programs to meet required strategic training objectives for nursing or other clinical staff. Regularly participates in related continuing education.

We are hiring for Diabetes Educator position in the Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK!

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 8-hr Day shifts, 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health related field of Nutrition & Dietetics Or
  • Upon hire: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Health related field of Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Coursework/Training - Health Educator
  • 3 years experience providing diabetes education and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting
  • 3 years experience as a healthcare professional to include hospital inpatient setting
