Job Purpose:
The Division Dean is responsible to the VP of Academic Affairs for the development and management of Health Sciences credit programs.
Job Functions:
Instructional Development:
Student Advisement:
1. Work with the Student Services Division in the selection, recruitment, admission and retention of students and cooperate with this division to utilize appropriate services.
2. Advise and maintain student records in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
3. Monitor academic advisement policies, procedures, and practices for all divisional programs.
4. Ensure that students in divisional programs receive appropriate academic advisement from their respective advisors.
5. Cooperate with the Student Services Division in the placement and follow-up of students.
6. Maintain office hours as required and needed by students, faculty, and advisees.
Professional Development:
1. Represent the Division and College by participating in community and professional meetings.
2. Attend relevant professional meetings.
3. Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to divisional concerns.
College/Community Service:
1. Serve actively on College committees.
2. Work cooperatively with other College divisions to meet the educational needs of students.
3. Maintain contacts with appropriate business, industries, agency and community organizations/individuals in the College service area.
4.Maintain contacts with appropriate representatives from secondary and post secondary institutions and serve as a catalyst for appropriate educational offerings.
5.Implement market-driven activities within the division targeted at the appropriate programs and consumer and community needs.
6. Actively pursue the addition of appropriate articulation agreements with post-secondary institutions for students to further their educational programs and goals.
Instructional Management:
1.Foster and promote all educational programs and activities offered through the division.
2.Plan divisional staff assignments in cooperation with counterparts and other divisions.
3.Prepare responsible budgets to address the allocation funds for all divisional and programmatic function with no ratifications and particular attention to facility, technology, and human and material resource needs.
4.Be responsible for procurement, inventory, and distribution of all divisional instructional materials.
5. Make recommendations concerning appointment, evaluation and utilization of both full-time and adjunct instructors in the assigned division.
6. Maintain effective use of all physical facilities and supplies in the assigned division.
7.Prepare all divisional reports and budgets in cooperation with staff as input into the assessment/ planning/evaluating/reporting system.
8.Administer faculty, staff, and student regulations within the division.
9.Insure communication of and adherence to policies, procedures, and campus information with all divisional faculty, staff and students.
10.Recommend Advisory Committee members and agenda items and serve as a committee catalyst for all community advisory committees for the Division.
11.Perform additional duties, as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Master’s Degree in area appropriate to the instructional division with demonstrated skills in teaching, curriculum development, and/or educational management in higher education.
