Data and Analytics Engineer – Healthcare Data Focus
We are hiring a Data and Analytics Engineer to support the development and optimization of our modern data platform. This role is focused on technical execution: building ingestion pipelines, transforming healthcare data, and enabling scalable reporting solutions across the organization.
You’ll contribute to the migration of legacy workflows, the creation of curated data layers, and the delivery of governed, high-performance reporting assets. The role requires strong data engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with SQL and Python, and familiarity with Azure Fabric and cloud-native development patterns.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Engineering & Workflow Development
- Build and maintain ingestion and transformation pipelines using Python notebooks and Fabric-native orchestration tools
- Migrate legacy data workflows into modular, cloud-native pipelines within the Fabric environment
- Develop reusable components for data movement, transformation, and orchestration across medallion layers
- Implement deployment workflows and version control for notebooks, datasets, and reporting assets
Modeling & Reporting Enablement
- Develop and manage curated bronze, silver, and gold layer tables that reflect business-aligned logic and structure
- Build semantic models in Power BI with calculated columns, measures, and row-level security
- Develop and maintain star schema models with well-defined grain, surrogate keys, and slowly changing dimensions
- Optimize query performance and ensure data freshness across reporting layers
- Support the rollout of certified datasets for business and departmental use
Validation & Automation
- Apply validation logic to ensure schema consistency, data accuracy, and metric alignment
- Automate workflows with robust error handling, logging, and monitoring
- Track pipeline health and performance using observability tools and dashboards
- Collaborate with architects and analysts to ensure outputs meet business and technical requirements
Team Culture
We value modular design, reusable components, and proactive communication across technical and business teams. The Data and Analytics Engineer will be expected to contribute to scalable workflows, clear documentation, and cross-functional alignment as we modernize our healthcare data platform.
Key Qualifications:
- SQL (5+ years): Advanced query development, performance tuning, and transformation logic across large healthcare datasets
- Python (3+ years): Used for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and orchestration in production workflows
- Fabric-native orchestration tools (2+ years): Experience building and managing pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and scheduling using tools such as Data Factory or equivalent
- Azure Fabric Lakehouse (1+ years or strong exposure): Familiarity with medallion layer architecture and cloud-native data workflows
- Power BI (3+ years): Semantic modeling with DAX, calculated tables, row-level security, and workspace governance
- Star Schema Development (2+ years): Experience designing and implementing fact/dimension models with surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions, and business-aligned grain definitions
- CI/CD & Git (2+ years): Version control and deployment automation for notebooks, datasets, and reporting assets
- Experience modernizing SSIS packages into cloud-native workflows
- Familiarity with healthcare data domains such as claims, eligibility, accumulators, and EDI formats (837/834)
- Exposure to observability tools for monitoring pipeline health and performance
- Experience designing reusable components for validation, transformation, and reporting
- Understanding of workspace deployment pipelines and environment promotion strategies
