POSITION TITLE: CTE Specialist - Health Science (limited duration)
DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA: School Improvement
REPORTS TO: Director of School Improvement

SALARY PLACEMENT: Licensed Salary Schedule
POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The position provides technical assistance and professional development to Career and Technical Education (CTE) staff in Health Science. It collaborates with educators, administrators, and industry partners to strengthen Health Science programs of study, align initiatives with regional workforce needs, and ensure compliance with state and federal Perkins grant requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To ensure compliance and grant management by:
Supporting related grant initiatives and developing new grant opportunities and applications.
Submitting accurate and timely program and compliance reports.
Serving as liaison with school districts, county agencies, and state organizations in Health Science CTE.
To provide technical assistance and professional learning by:
Delivering technical assistance and professional development to CTE program staff in Health Science.
Designing, coordinating, and promoting professional learning opportunities that strengthen instructional practices.
Coaching educators to implement evidence-based practices, including culturally responsive teaching and project-based learning.
Facilitating collaboration among secondary and postsecondary educators and industry partners to build strong Health Science pathways.
To support curriculum and program improvement by:
Guiding districts in aligning Health Science Programs of Study with Oregon Department of Education (ODE) Career Pathways.
Leading reviews of Health Science curriculum, instructional materials, and resources.
Applying program and student assessment data to drive continuous improvement of Health Science programs.
To research and advance innovation by:
Reviewing current trends and best practices in Health Science education and workforce development.
Developing service delivery and implementation plans using formal and informal needs assessments.
Aligning Health Science initiatives with Lane STEM and regional workforce development priorities.
To collaborate and lead partnerships by:
Participating in staff, planning, and committee meetings as assigned.
Building and strengthening partnerships with educators, administrators, and healthcare industry stakeholders.
Championing equity, access, and culturally responsive practices across Health Science CTE programs.
To fulfill additional responsibilities by:
Performing other duties as assigned to support consortium and regional CTE initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Health Science education, workforce development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid TSPC CTE license or a minimum of three years of experience in professional technical education and/or workforce development.
Demonstrated experience in Career and Technical Education, Health Science, or related field.
Experience with project-based or experiential learning in K–12 or postsecondary education.
Successful experience facilitating collaboration among educators, community college staff, and business/industry partners.
Experience working with special needs and underserved youth (preferred).
Valid Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires minimal physical exertion. The specialist is normally standing, walking or sitting as required. Periodically the specialist may be required to do some light lifting of materials/supplies up to 20 lbs when transitioning from site to site.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
Generally, the specialist works in an indoor work environment performing clean, non-hazardous work. This is an itinerant position requiring travel between multiple work sites. The specialist may encounter inclement weather during site visits, field trips or community activities.

Follow all District work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
Perform program responsibilities in accordance with statutes, administrative rules, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Board policy and the evaluation program adopted for the position.
