CONTINUING EDUCATION - YOGA INSTRUCTOR (PART-TIME)
The Continuing Education team at Kennedy-King College is community-focused, innovative, and committed to offering accessible wellness and enrichment opportunities beyond traditional academic courses. The CE Department offers flexible scheduling, autonomy in course delivery, and the opportunity to positively impact a wide range of learners through community-centered programming.
Kennedy-King College is seeking a part-time Yoga Instructor that will teach one Continuing Education yoga course on campus. They will come to KKC one to two times per week to lead beginner-friendly yoga classes focused on stretching, meditation, and foundational yoga positions. Their day will consist of preparing the instructional space, facilitating an engaging class session, ensuring student safety, and providing basic student support before and after class
This course promotes student well‑being, mindfulness, and physical literacy. Students will learn stretching, breathing, and relaxation techniques that increase flexibility, reduce stress, and support overall health. These skills contribute to enhanced focus, self-awareness, and well‑being, which positively impact student success in and beyond the classroom.
Instructors will teach a diverse community of learners of different backgrounds and ages. They will have access to high‑quality instructional environments, such as the college gym or dance studio, and have autonomy to shape an engaging, holistic yoga program. The instructor should be comfortable using email to communicate with students and staff and able to navigate basic digital tools for class preparation (e.g., sending course materials). No advanced systems are required.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Ability to deliver high-quality yoga instruction appropriate for adult and/or youth beginners.
Skill in modifying poses and meeting students’ physical abilities and comfort levels.
Ability to design and implement structured, engaging class sessions that support learning.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with diverse learners.
Ability to motivate, inspire confidence, and create a supportive classroom environment.
Flexibility in teaching style to meet varied learner needs and abilities
Ability to collaborate with the Associate Dean to create or refine the course syllabus.
Ability to prepare an engaging, accessible yoga curriculum tailored to beginners.
Ability to establish strong communication practices with students (email, announcements, etc.).
