IT Business & Ancillary ServicesOverview of Position:
Under general supervision, responsible for the functional testing, repair, maintenance, and configuration of clinical equipment integration for the Electronic Medical Records systems. Functions as the systems integration expert for clinical equipment. Manages clinical systems integration projects involving areas of operating systems, system administration, software development, and network security. Provides direct technical support for clinical equipment integration problems and liaises with the IT department.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Maintains and supports networked clinical equipment and systems.
• Provides technical support to clinical staff on operational issues with equipment problems.
• Supports medical equipment infrastructure including networks and servers.
• In conjunction with IT, manages the segmented clinical network.
2. Works with management and end users to determine appropriate approach to maintenance and service of technology. Maintains service requirements and service standards.
3. Clinical systems support and maintenance.
• Assists with establishing, monitoring, and maintaining software and hardware related to clinical systems not supported by IT.
• Assists with, or coordinates, software and hardware installations, repairs and replacements.
• Supervises and coordinates vendor’s biomedical equipment network integration and ensures it aligns with Genesis networking standards.
4. Supports clinical devices for cybersecurity assessments and patches.
• Works directly with biomedical and IT teams to patch approved medical devices.
• Assess the existing medical device inventory to mitigate cybersecurity risk and reports to management for further action.
• Applies security patches and performs software updates, when approved, to impacted systems.
5. Project Planning
• Manages clinical equipment projects including new installations, upgrades/updates, replacements, and general maintenance.
6. Coordinates and manages vendor’s work on assigned systems.
7. Serves as a liaison between Biomed and IT including operating in both support systems (ServiceNow and Biomed CMMS) to assign and manage tasks where appropriate.
8. Proactively analyzes assigned systems to identify areas for improvement and best practices and implements leadership-approved changes.
9. Provides on call support for assigned systems.
10. Performs other functions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical engineering or information technology, a related technical field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience is required.
2. Three to five years (3-5) of clinical engineering and/or information technology support experience required which must include three years of technology support experience in health care.
3. Ability to troubleshoot system integration technologies including networking, HL7, FHIR, and APIs
4. Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
5. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
6. Working knowledge of clinical equipment regulatory standards plus hospital design and building codes and regulations.
7. Working knowledge of information technology for clinical applications, including data storage, redundancy, backups, and recovery.
8. Ability to supervise vendor implementations.
9. Highly effective written and verbal communication and leadership skills
