Good Samaritan is an affiliate of Sanford Health. We have primarily an in-house therapy model that covers multiple services lines with a leadership team that includes clinical and operational expertise. The Clinical Specialist role works collaboratively as part of the clinical team and has opportunities to partner with operational colleagues and clinicians within assigned regions. This role includes responsibilities with the development of clinical content; assists in maintaining clinical compliance; has knowledge of CMS regulations and applicable updates. The Clinical Specialist helps develop and maintain EMR's utilized for service line documentation of care delivery; completes policy review and provides updates as warranted; reviews billing and coding as well as intermittently assist in denial management. In addition, this role retains contractual relationships with universities and assists with student placement. Support is provided for senior therapists and clinicians throughout the regions assigned.Summary
The clinical specialist works to ensure clinical competence and education for the enterprise therapy staff across the Good Samaritan Society (GSS) facilities and locations within a designated region. Assists to implement programs in assigned region to educate staff on clinical practice, documentation, regulatory compliance, professional development and specialty services/program development for the states they are assigned.Job Description
The clinical specialist is responsible for the clinical functions that support the goals of the organization and locations while meeting federal and state regulations, as well as state specific practice acts within the assigned region. In addition, responsible for auditing rehabilitation services within region and working with therapy and rehabilitation leadership to develop and implement plans of correction for any areas needing improvement. Organizes and conduct clinical program development in skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, home health care, and swing bed units in assigned region. Performs clinical monitoring for quality documentation to decrease risk of denials and enhance patient outcomes within locations in designated assigned region. Establishes best practices and procedures to produce high quality rehabilitation programs. Deploys new procedures, as directed, to improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs. Follows guideline, regulations, standards and safety procedures in the therapy process. Clinical resource for the use of therapeutic intervention strategies in compliance with laws, standards and regulations for states within assigned region locations. Assists in the development and delivery of standardized patient education for diverse audiences. Provides education across enterprise as standards of practice as well as within assigned region to enhance therapist skill sets to enhance treatment provided through in-services and clinical orientation. Works with rehabilitation leadership in providing clinical strategies utilized across the entire business model/GSS therapy enterprise that enhance patient outcomes, financial revenue, business growth, and excellence in service delivery.Qualifications
