Job Description:

Operational and clinical pharmacist responsibilities within a rapidly growing in-practice oncology specialty pharmacy.  Comprehensive oversight of workflows and audits, staff supervision in all areas of access, fulfillment and accounts receivables, education counseling, medication adherence, admixture, therapy management and drug information in collaboration with the extended healthcare team. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct oversight to ensure workflow efficiencies of pharmacy dispensed clinic administered medications.
  • Oversee accuracy of entry, ordering, and fulfillment or admixture of dispensed clinic-administered medications.
  • Verify details of orders entered in EMR by provider are appropriate. Adjust regimens/orders in the EMR as necessary.
  • Verify correct documentation is entered to ensure proper billing and administration can occur.
  • Demonstrate clinical acuity in patient profiles assessment of drug to disease state in customizing medication counseling for dosing, directions, side effect management, storage/handling, missed dose, and drug/drug interactions or allergies.
  • Collaborate among multi-disciplinary team for adherence, side effect management and optimal therapy across route of administration.
  • Utilize critical thinking to continually integrate clinic, pharmacy processes, and workflows within respective systems
  • Assures successful realization of goals, implementation and sustainment of projects and initiatives to optimize workflow efficiencies, ensure patient care satisfaction and regulatory standards are met.
  • Oversight includes Patient Advocates (prior authorization coordinator and patient access coordinator teams) and processes
  • Engage in staff supervision and HR functions of coaching, annual assessments/evaluations, and time-sheet/time-off approvals as well as identify training needs and coordinate resources for teams.
  • Proficiency in interpretation and application of medical literature in preparing authorization appeals and response to drug information requests
  • Assist in navigating complex patient benefit cases
  • Serve as a liaison for pharmaceutical representatives to assist with patient access to medications
  • Assist in review and update of pharmacy policies and procedures as needed.
  • Participation quality assurance programs including development and/or execution of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain REMS certifications and counselor certifications for all required products.
  • Adhere to SOPs, guided by accreditation standards and organizational policies and procedures, as well as practice in accordance with state and federal requirements.
  • Provide pharmacist coverage in the after-hours on-call schedule
  • Provide coverage support for basic job responsibilities when supervisor has taken time off
  • Assist in Specialty Pharmacy workflow when requested.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned requested and/or required.

  • Knowledge and compliance of TN BOP and Federal statutes and laws

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • PharmD degree or equivalent- required
  • Current, active and unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacy licensure- required
  • PGY1 residency or 3 years of oncology pharmacy experience with IV and oral medications -required
  • Obtain and maintain additional pharmacy license(s) in other required state(s) by either examination or reciprocity based on business need
