GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Specialist reports to the Vice President of Clinical Operations and is responsible for assisting with the clinical oversight of the Wellness Departments for all Watercrest communities. He/she works collaboratively with operations and discipline partners to support community leadership teams. A willingness to travel to all Watercrest communities as requested is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Wellness Department Oversight –
- Provide routine, on-site visits to assigned communities and others as requested to include resident care department support.
- Review accuracy of resident assessments and Care Plans.
- Review compliance with Watercrest standards, systems and policies for resident care delivery, documentation, quality assurance monitoring and reporting, incident reports, electronic medication record, staffing standards and other areas identified on visits.
- Complete a written report/summary of visit and notes for the RWD and ED on recommendations and follow-up needed within 48 hours of visit.
- Assume day-to-day responsibilities, on as temporary basis, as RWD and/or MCD in communities with an open position.
- Provide clinical consultation and support to Resident Wellness Directors on questions related to resident care, infection control, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Perform leadership and management duties including mentoring and driving culture.
- Assist communities with recruitment, training, and retention of associates to meet community needs.
- Promotes Watercrest’s mission, vision, and values.
Staff Development & Training –
- Assists with new leadership training of new Resident Wellness and Memory Care leaders.
- Champion and support the training of community nursing staff and Resident Care Specialists.
- Support and assist with implementation of new programs in assigned communities.
Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Compliance –
- Provide ongoing QA monitoring of resident care and services along with compliance of
- Watercrest standards during on-site visits and remotely via management of data and reports.
- Completes review of monthly QA reports with assigned communities, assisting with problem solving and implementation of QA plans.
- Provides review and recommendations for reportable event documents and occurrences.
- Supports and maintains compliance with safe work practices and worker injury prevention programs.
- Assist with survey readiness with goal of deficiency free surveys.
Other Responsibilities –
- May assist with duties of Resident Wellness Directors or Wellness nurses in the absence of permanent staff in those positions.
- Participates in work groups and special projects as assigned.
- Frequent travel required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work independently or part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, receiving instructions, feedback, coaching, counseling and/or discipline.
- Must be self-motivated and cooperative, have a good attitude and be able to perform under minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work extended hours if necessary.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program with current license.
- Multi state nursing license or ability to obtain post- employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in a regional nurse or QA role desirable.
- Experience as a director of nursing in an assisted living community required.
- Experience with training and development duties.
