Clinical Quality Improvement Nurse

Summary of Position:

The Quality Improvement Nurse (RN) will be assigned responsibility to support all inpatient nursing units to develop, implement, refine and maintain a comprehensive quality improvement program that fosters an environment of shared accountability relating to quality improvement and education.

Functions of Position:

•Perform detailed chart audits for CMS and TJC compliance on all inpatient units.

•Conduct daily audits on clinical documentation, infection prevention, falls, restraints, blood administration, drug titrations, medication administration

•Identify trends and gaps in care delivery and provide one on one performance improvement education to staff.

•Evaluates current and ongoing quality and safety initiatives and presents recommendations for improvement to ensure organization is positioned for constant readiness for accreditation and other regulatory processes

•Collaborate with clinical staff on implementing quality initiatives, including education and training support.

•Assist in the preparation and submission of required data for accreditation, regulatory, and quality programs

•Monitor compliance with QAPI action plans and escalate concerns as appropriate

•Support nursing departments in Root Cause Analysis and development of Performance Improvement Plans.

•Maintain current knowledge of CMS regulation, TJC standards, and quality benchmarks

•Attend monthly and quarterly meetings to present quality data

•Provide real-tie feedback to providers and nursing staff related to documentation and best practices

•Elevate concerns related to quality of care to the appropriate leadership

•Focus on fostering a High Reliability Organization

•Actively participate in various multi-disciplinary committees and provide documentation as necessary

•All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Graduate from an approved school of nursing, BSN preferred

•Possess current, unrestricted licensure by the Missouri State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse

•Minimum of 3 years of acute care clinical experience (critical care experience a bonus)

•Experience with quality improvement methodologies (Plan, Do, Study, Act)

•Strong understanding of clinical workflows and evidence-based standards of care

•Proficient in EMR navigation (Cerner preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite

•Excellent communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail skills.
