JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Liaison / IRF-PAI Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient access to inpatient rehabilitation services while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant completion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI). This role supports program growth, regulatory compliance, accurate reimbursement, and high-quality patient outcomes through collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, payers, and community partners. The position blends clinical screening, education, and relationship-building with regulatory, documentation, and data integrity oversight.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a South Carolina Nursing License or Licensed Therapist (PT, OT, or SLP)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two (2) years of inpatient rehabilitation or acute care experience.
- Prior experience in a Clinical Liaison and/or IRF-PAI Coordinator role.
- Experience supporting CMS or Joint Commission surveys.
- Certification in rehabilitation nursing or therapy specialty.
- Experience with Case Mix Index (CMI) management, audits, or denial prevention.
- Healthcare outreach or referral development experience.

- Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare data systems.
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Therapist (PT, OT, or SLP).
- Current South Carolina professional license in accordance with state licensure requirements.
