The Clinical Informatics Specialist position is part of the Staff Education department and is a full-time role working approximately 80 hours per two week pay period. This position serves as a key liaison between Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, and clinical departments to support and optimize the use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other clinical applications. Responsibilities include providing end-user support, maintaining and improving clinical systems, assisting with training, and ensuring efficient and compliant system utilization. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to support clinical operations and enhance workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Minimum of three years of experience working as an LPN or RN in a hospital setting required.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare informatics, nursing, computer science, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in clinical informatics, EMR support, healthcare IT, or computer information systems preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex systems and workflows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer support for EMR systems, ensuring timely resolution of user issues and system concerns.
- Serve as a liaison between Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, and clinical departments to support system functionality and improvements.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and optimization of clinical applications.
- Analyze clinical systems and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
- Investigate, document, and resolve incidents and problems within clinical applications, including help desk tickets.
- Support EMR training for employees, providers, and contractors to ensure effective system utilization.
- Assist with user account setup, access management, and system optimization.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to system updates, issues, and resolutions.
