A Brief Overview
Under limited supervision, is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of one or more teams of Epic Informatics staff. Provides guidance and direction to ensure end user customer needs are met. This person serves as a liaison with the clinical system users and clinical leadership.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree with licensure/certification/registration appropriate to the application that this position supports. Required or
  • Master's Degree Master's degree with 2 two years IT experience (report writing, super user, IT implementation, table maintenance, IT training, or healthcare Helpdesk or IT support experience). Required


What you will do

  • Provides day-to-day supervision for one or more Epic informatics teams.
  • Confers with users and user departments to ensure their needs are being met. Follows up with other IS staff as appropriate. Ensures Epic and other clinical systems function effectively to meet end users needs.
  • Continually assesses software systems for optimization opportunities to meet end-user workflow and regulatory demands. Coordinates quality management activities.
  • Ensures effective use of the I.S. incident/ticket tracking tool, by area staff.
  • Monitors Epic Care Concern Bulletins and Patient Safety Escalations and appropriate disseminates information to impacted project team members and end-users.
  • Responds timely to user concerns regarding issues and takes action to address needs; involves vendor when needed. Tracks users’ concerns and looks for patterns in problems; utilizes support center software to log or follow up on each customer call, enter call status and document resolution.
  • Ensures change management process is followed and changes are implemented in a manner to limit system downtime. Ensures effective communication between application staff and other department personnel.
  • Ensures appropriate interfaces are in place and looks for opportunities to improve integration with clinical systems.
  • Maintains clinical and healthcare process knowledge at a level to be able to work with hospital system users and management team members. Maintains clinical and healthcare process knowledge at a level to be able to effectively work with hospital system users and management team members.
  • Assists in the development of department short and long-term goals and the plans necessary to accomplish the agreed upon goals, including budget recommendations.
  • Assists in the formulation of policy for the department and secures appropriate approvals. Ensures development of procedures necessary to implement approved policy. Communicates and enforces hospital wide policies and procedures.
  • In conjunction with appropriate management staff, interviews, hires, and (when necessary) administers coaching and/or corrective action. Serves as central contact for new hire orientation.
  • Establishes standards for effective job performance and evaluates staff according to the standards. Has front-line accountability for employee orientation, competency and corrective action processes. Completes annual employee performance appraisals and maintains current job descriptions and competency forms.
  • Ensures appropriate staff schedules are in place including on-call rotations, as needed. Follows operational processes and ensures staff follows processes, including change management to assure systems stability and availability.
  • Participates in organization committees, continuing education and vendor user group meetings as possible to continually enhance knowledge.
  • Uses project management skills to manage implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
