PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Huckleberry Teen Health Program (HTHP) in San Rafael provides youth and families with support along a continuum of services that includes health promotion, education, screening, and early intervention, peer health education for Spanish-speaking communities, and other areas connected to sexual and reproductive health. The HTHP team works in close partnership with schools, community-based organizations, community clinics, and community members to address some of the most urgent issues in adolescent health. Additionally, HTHP facilitates a weekly youth-focused clinic where youth can receive confidential and no-cost sexual and reproductive health services, using a model of care that integrates behavioral and mental health screening and intervention into clinic visits. All services are offered in both English and Spanish.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Educator is deeply embedded in HTHP’s health promotion activities. The Health Educator is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting educational workshops, adapting curriculum, supporting clinic flow, and conducting health counseling at Teen Tuesday Clinic, participating in community outreach, supporting intern and volunteer projects, and leading additional youth enrichment activities and programs. Responsibilities also include social media development and engagement.

This position operates out of the Huckleberry Teen Health Program in San Rafael in Marin County, and spends a majority of the time on school campuses at high school Wellness Centers. This role routinely includes the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. For the safety of our staff, clients and other visitors, HYP is currently taking advantage of remote work whenever possible.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and/or handle objects, tools, or controls.
This position requires the ability to remain actively engaged in a classroom or workshop setting for extended periods, including participation in full-day training sessions or instructional activities. The employee must be able to maintain focus, interact with participants, and facilitate discussions or learning activities throughout the duration of such sessions.
