JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Program Administrator, the Assistant Program Administrator for Clinical Education provides leadership and oversight for the DNAP-PD Program's clinical education. Responsibilities include coordinating clinical practicum courses, supervising and advising students, conducting site visits, and maintaining compliance with Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) standards. The position ensures accurate scheduling, evaluation, and onboarding processes, and contributes to the academic and professional development of students and faculty in accordance with MTSA's mission and values.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in Nursing or related field
  • Current CRNA certification by NBCRNA
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Tennessee
  • Teaching philosophy commensurate with MTSA’s mission and values
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a CRNA (preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching and education administrative experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of COA standards of nurse anesthesia programs
  • Teaching philosophy commensurate with MTSA’s mission and values

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

If required and requested by the President or Executive Vice President, the Assistant Program Administrator is qualified to assume the day-to-day operations of the Program Administrator. This list describes major responsibilities to support the clinical education efforts for MTSA: 

  • Serve as Course Coordinator for Clinical Practicum courses.
  • Teach assigned courses and simulation instruction as scheduled.
  • Provide daily oversight of the Clinical Coordinator and Evaluations and Credentialing Coordinator to ensure accuracy and timeliness of student clinical schedules, evaluation processes, and onboarding for students and clinical sites.
  • Supervise and advise students in clinical years, with additional guidance for students identified as 'at risk.'
  • Coordinate and conduct site visits, orientations, and faculty development at affiliated sites.
  • Collaborate with clinical coordinators, faculty, and staff to ensure adequate student clinical experiences in compliance with COA standards.
  • Oversee student clinical case and simulation experience tracking and ensure completion of evaluations for students, faculty, and clinical sites.
  • Participate in programmatic evaluation including SEE and NCE results, attrition, graduation rates, and other COA-defined measures of student achievement.
  • Assist with the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures related to academic and clinical education.
  • Attend professional meetings and workshops as assigned by administration (excluding Sabbath hours).
  • Actively support alumni and advancement activities of the School.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Program Administrator, Executive Vice President, or President.

ATTENDANCE

Expected to be on campus a minimum of three (3) days per week during MTSA business hours (Monday–Thursday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm CST). Eligible for remote work one (1) day per week when no teaching, committee, or administrative responsibilities are scheduled. Flexibility is required for travel days related to site visits, professional meetings, or program obligations. On campus presence should be prioritized over remote work days when weekday off campus travel is required.
