Job Description Summary:

The Department of Health Sciences at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in human physiology. Appointment will begin August 10, 2026.

Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant externally funded research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body. 

Teaching expectation is 2 courses per semester. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach compelling courses in human physiology and other lecture and seminar-style courses, and to contribute to mentored student research in human physiology or related areas.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an area of physiology or a related field at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2026).
  • Applicants must provide evidence of scholarly achievement or demonstrate potential as a scholar (i.e. publication number and quality, research plans, and past, current, or potential future external funding).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in teaching and mentoring successful undergraduate research.
  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in either nutrition or human anatomy.
