Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts group and individual sessions on reproductive health topics
  • Provides education and information on reproductive health topics to community professionals
  • Conducts community surveys and collaborates with other health specialists and civic groups to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services with a focus on Heath Education.
  • Develops and maintains cooperation between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies.
  • Promotes health discussions at various MHHC sites, schools, industry, and other community agencies
  • Researches, selects and /or prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials relevant to health promotion and disease prevention with focus on Heath Education.
  • Attends regularly scheduled Program Review Committee Meetings at the Center as well as other related meetings externally.
  • Attends and participates in training/informational sessions that are appropriate for Health Educators.
  • Maintains a calendar of events of educational and outreach activities.
  • Assists in quarterly review of clinical charts as directed by the administration.
  • Β Provides visits to school health programs for onsite education.
  • Oversees Educational Material Advisory Committee and maintains minutes of this meeting

Attends Community Advisory Board of the Public Board Meetings as requested by administration and the Director of Health Education.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

EDUCATION: Baccalaureate degree in Health Education or related field from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in designing community education programs.

Familiarity with community’s health and education patterns and needs.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Good verbal and written communication skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
