Introduction

Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.

Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.



Description

We are looking for a Full Time Senior Clinical Support Specialist to provide expert clinical oversight, quality assurance and practice leadership across Safe Steps’ counselling services. Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, this role focuses on strengthening service quality through clinical auditing, supervision, training and evidence-informed practice.

 

THE ROLE

The Senior Clinical Support Specialist will conduct, collate, and analyse data to support operational and strategic objectives at Safe Steps. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure data integrity, develop meaningful reports, and provide insights that strengthen service delivery and organisational outcomes.

PAY LEVEL: SCHADS Level 7

CONTRACT TYPE:  Permanent – Full Time

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical oversight through auditing, case reviews and call monitoring
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement activities
  • Contribute to the development and review of clinical policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Deliver coaching, reflective practice and clinical supervision to counselling staff
  • Design and support training initiatives and workforce capability building
  • Undertake research and contribute to evidence-based service development
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders and stakeholders to enhance service quality
  • Support complaints, incident reviews and evaluations as required.

 



Skills And Experiences

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification and registration (ACA, PACFA, AASW or AHPRA)
  • Minimum 4 years’ trauma counselling experience (preferably telephone-based)
  • Experience in senior clinical, quality, supervision or practice leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of domestic, family and sexual violence practice frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, auditing or practice improvement
  • Ability to support staff wellbeing while working in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent communication, judgement and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
