We are currently looking for a Wellness Manager to join our team of committed professionals. This Full-time Contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s John Island Camp location near Spanish, ON.
Reporting to the Director of John Island Camp, the Wellness Manager is responsible for overseeing the health, safety, and overall well-being of all campers and staff throughout their time at camp. This role conducts wellness check-ins for campers and staff, and manages first aid and wellness-related incidents. The Wellness Manager is also responsible for the safe organization, administration, and distribution of camper medications during their stay, ensuring a safe and supportive camp environment.

RATE OF PAY: $18.00-$20.00HOURS: 42 hours/ week
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of at least three years in a nursing program at a college or university, or equivalent practical experience. Applicants with education completed outside of Canada must submit a WES with their application
Experience administering medications, providing primary care to children and young adults, and promoting health and wellness engagement in a camp setting
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct wellness check-ins with parents and campers, including seeing all campers on the first and last days of camp
Assess and care for children and staff who are ill, providing treatment in consultation with the on-call physician
Safely organize, administer, and distribute medications to campers as required
Ensure all first aid kits are properly stocked, both on site and for outtrips
Maintain accurate documentation and summary reports for medication administration and Wellness Centre visits
Complete daily living accommodation rounds to monitor camper well-being
Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the Wellness Centre remains safe and hygienic

CAMP EQUITABLE EMPLOYMENT FUND
The Camp Equitable Employment Fund (CEEF) is a grant created to reduce barriers to camp employment for individuals who have been historically marginalized and underrepresented in the camping industry.
The fund is open to Canadians, ages 18 to 25, who are a part of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities. Ideal candidates will have previous experience, or a demonstrated interest, in working with youth. Camp-specific experience is not required.
Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to offset the personal expenses of working in the outdoor industry. This could include: certification courses, personal gear, equipment and travel costs.
