Job Summary
CRISP Shared Services (CSS) serves as the technology partner for health information exchange (HIE) partners in Maryland, DC, West Virginia, Connecticut, Alaska, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, and other jurisdictions. CSS facilitates the electronic transfer of clinical information between disparate information systems in order to positively impact the healthcare system through improved patient care and outcomes, reduced costs, and data-driven understanding of regional public health concerns. The Sr Healthcare Data Analyst will support the CRISP Shared Services Data Insights team focusing on the best use of clinical and social needs data for a variety of use cases, with an emphasis on quality measurement, public health, and population health. A successful candidate for this role will be able to pivot between data analysis tasks and advisory tasks, using the knowledge from data and best practices to help the team design and refine analyses. In particular, a candidate for this role will be comfortable asking and communicating the “why” behind reports and analyses. The Sr Healthcare Data Analyst will respond to clinical data requests with a data-driven approach, brainstorming and advising requestors on best practices with the data, while also considering policy implications.
This role will work with multiple curated datasets, designing and building complex queries for critical healthcare outputs. The role will require interaction with external data submitters, other CSS team members, and data consumers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform, oversee, and validate data analysis to inform reporting strategy and design decisions
• Advise on the best use of data and approaches for particular data requests with policy and replicability in mind
• Master a variety of data sets to evaluate feasibility of reporting initiatives and to support ad-hoc data requests
• Validate data sets to ensure logic is implemented appropriately for use cases
• Advise, review, and develop business logic for using clinical data
• Recommend improvements to data quality for improving reports
• Perform data analysis in Databricks utilizing SQL to identify factors to be considered in future reports, provide historical trend analytics, and supply requested metrics
• Process healthcare ad-hoc queries within the extensive CSS healthcare data lake
• Work with other analysts and data engineers to improve data quality
• Communicate analysis findings and interpretation of results to data requesters in meetings, presentations and over email

• Competence navigating policy and data governance considerations and understanding their implications in public health initiatives
Experience and/or Education Requirements
• Bachelors in public health and/or health information technology, or a data intensive field and 5 years of experience or equivalent
• Masters in public health and/or health information technology, or a data intensive field and 2 years of experience in a data analyst or business analyst like role
• Significant work experience with at least 1 of the following: healthcare quality measures (such as NCQA, HEDIS, value-based care), epidemiological data statistics, clinical data analysis on a non-audited data source (such as CCD, ORU or ADT), FHIR, or a related topic
