he primary purpose of this position is to lead a staff of social workers to provide child protective services as outlined in federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and policies. Work involves the supervision of a staff of social workers that conduct child welfare operations in accordance with the North Carolina Child Welfare Policy and applicable state statutes. Employee assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates workflow operations, and supervises staff through various leadership and management activities including, but not limited to, case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction. Employee is responsible for staff training, resolving problems, ensuring proper and timely initiations, ensuring staff complete thorough assessment with on-going consistent contacts, and ensuring timely and appropriate case decisions with all things documented in real time. Employee provides input to higher-level management on administrative, personnel, and budget issues. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that applicable laws and policies are adhered to and that competent and ethical services are being provided by the staff. The supervisor is a part of the agency’s management team and participates in goal development, planning, and implementation of activities focused on accomplishing the goals. The supervisor provides leadership, training, coaching and disciplining of personnel.
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience; or a master's degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling experience; or four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four years of social work or counseling; or graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
