Job Summary

The Senior Medical Writer supports, under the direction of senior scientific staff, the development of scientific and promotional medical education content. This may include peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, congress presentations, slide decks for physicians, advisory board materials, interactive PDFs, video scripts, flashcards/brochures, and other relevant content. Development of client-ready quality material requires knowledge of the product, science, and strategic issues for those products on which the Senior Medical Writer works. The position interacts closely with other scientific and account team members to gain a thorough understanding of the scope and expectations of each project to support content development that aligns with the clientοΏ½s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will additionally demonstrate keen attention to editorial, reference, and annotation details, and will have the ability to quickly process information, accurately translate it, and deliver to the target audience. Scheduling flexibility and timeline prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

Content Development

  • Support development of medical communications projects, including slide decks, advisory board materials, slide presentations, and other promotional materials, across multiple clients/ therapeutic areas
    • Prepare scientific content for peer-reviewed journals, congress presentations, and related publications deliverables
    • Publication planning
    • Slide and executive summary development, as directed
    • Preparation of content for client review committees
    • KOL and congress identification
    • Literature searches
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of scientific accuracy, including the development of annotation and referencing guides
  • Provide onsite support at advisory programs, key client meetings, congresses, or other events
  • Attend internal and external meetings, and update content as appropriate
  • Work cross-functionally to incorporate updates and editorial comments
  • Ensure all deliverables are scientifically rigorous, aligned with client strategy, and compliant with ethical and regulatory standards
  • Ensure all written materials are compliant with GPP-2022 guidelines and client internal policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years medical writing experience, preferably in a health care marketing or communications agency internship, preceptorship or equivalent
  • Ability to understand complex scientific and medical literature
  • Experience in developing scientific materials for health care professionals
  • Familiarity with literature search processes
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong familiarity with GPP-2022, ICMJE, and ethical/regulatory requirements for scientific publishing
  • Experience developing medical communications materials
  • Therapeutic area expertise/experience in hematology/oncology is preferred
  • Works effectively within a team
  • Master of Science, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent

Location: Home-based (remote) or NYC Office (candidate's choice) location

Travel:

Significant travel will be required to: a) clients for sales and customer support/maintenance, b) major medical conferences both in the US and internationally as identified as important by clients or where Woven is conducting a supported function/meeting/activity within the designated specialties as well as other medical education conferences and meetings as required; c) to corporate office in New York, NY for management meetings in order to accomplish the goals of this position.
