Summary:
This individual will assist senior staff in the New York State Department of Health, Office of Health Insurance Programs (OHIP), Division of Health Plan Contracting and Oversight, Bureau of Consumer Services in implementing and evaluating health reform initiatives with a primary focus on research and analysis associated with the transition and monitoring of vulnerable populations into managed care. Duties include:
Conduct in-depth online research on DHPCO programs, policies, systems, and procedures.
Manage data-related tasks based on program requests, including creating simple formulas and data representations including pivot tables and graphs using Microsoft Excel to support analysis and reporting efforts.
Conducting weekly and monthly productivity reporting; conducting quarterly gathering and analysis of MCO reported data.
Provide assistance with the design, implementation and maintenance of application programs and databases to support program operations and decision making
Assist with staff training and onboarding; draft a wide range of documents which may include status reports and guidance documents or job aides
Other activities as may be deemed necessary in response to the changing needs of the Division.
Basic Qualifications:
5 years of experience managing OR administering OR reporting on data
Experience importing data into Excel and manipulating data in large Excel spreadsheets using simple macros.
Proficient in the use of standard office technology and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
2 years’ experience in data reporting activities, health care or public health
Strong analytical and communication (both written and oral) skills
Experience in health research and business analytics
Proficient in the use of standard office technology and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
The ability to work independently in conducting research to support DOH policy
The ability to function in a team environment.
