- Leads HIV/STI surveillance activities, including case reporting, data collection, data validation, case management, and de-duplication, by providing mentorship, training, and performance oversight to ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with surveillance standards.
- Conducts and oversees statistical and epidemiologic analyses to identify trends, disparities, and emerging patterns while developing routine and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and epidemiologic profiles for stakeholders.
- Ensures data meets CDC and state reporting standards for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. Implements data quality assurance and improvement processes.
- Collaborates with program managers, disease intervention specialists, and public health leadership to translate surveillance findings into actionable insights for prevention, care and program evaluation.
- Fosters a culture of data-informed decision-making by developing and delivering training on surveillance methods, data interpretation, and analytic tools to staff across the HIV/STI Prevention Program.
- Conducts literature reviews and stays current on public health trends to identify and implement best practices in surveillance and analytic methodologies.
- Responds to data requests from all stakeholders and prepares and delivers data presentations to local, state and national partners.
- Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality and data security policies, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, CDC, and state surveillance requirements.
- Participates in emergency preparedness and response activities as directed by county leadership during a declared public health emergency or disaster.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Health Policy, or a related field.
- At least five (5) years of job related experience. Combined experience in public health surveillance, epidemiologic analysis, health data management, with a focus on HIV/STI surveillance preferred.
- Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role preferred.
- Experience using data languages/tools such as R, Python, SQL, or similar analytic platforms in a health or public health setting preferred.
- Experience working with surveillance systems such as eHARS, NBS, Maven/THISIS, or other disease surveillance platforms preferred.
- Proven proficiency with both oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks a must.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $36.13 - $45.16 hourly based on qualifications
