The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Consultant, Healthcare Quality, within the QORA department.

The Senior Consultant will provide leadership on a national American Heart Association initiative focused on improving awareness, identification, referral, and treatment of heart valve disease through primary care engagement, learning collaboratives, and quality improvement activities.

This position serves as a senior project lead responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on initiative activities while ensuring achievement of program goals, timelines, deliverables, and budget requirements. The Senior Consultant will also provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to Program Consultants and other project team members, helping advance quality improvement efforts, stakeholder engagement strategies, and implementation activities across both initiatives.

Strong leadership, project management, quality improvement, financial management, and relationship-building skills are essential. This position works closely with national association staff, healthcare providers, government grant administrators, public health organizations, clinical experts, funders, and other external partners to advance heart valve disease education.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, grant-funded position through 7/31/27 with the possibility of extension.

• Lead implementation of major program activities across the initiative, ensuring alignment with grant objectives, organizational priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
• Develop and execute project plans, work plans, and implementation strategies to achieve program goals.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks and barriers, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure timely completion of project deliverables, milestones, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with national and cross-functional teams to support the dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches.
• Support consultants in planning, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement learning collaborative activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Five (5) – Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience
• Experience leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Experience with quality improvement methodologies and frameworks.
• Experience managing project budgets, reporting requirements, and performance metrics.
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including occasional overnight travel.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in health-related fields
• Quality improvement experience
• Health education experience
• Health Center quality improvement, operations, or clinical experience
• Experience in building and cultivating volunteer and client relationships
• Experience facilitating virtual and in-person meetings
• Experience in healthcare quality improvement and systems of care initiatives.
• Familiarity with primary care practice transformation, learning collaboratives, implementation science, or care pathway redesign.
• Experience working with federal grants, cooperative agreements, or national initiatives.
• Experience facilitating large stakeholder meetings and multi-sector collaborations.
• Experience with data analysis, performance measurement, and evaluation activities.

The expected pay range will be $82,500 to $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
